November 2016

-       New Version of YCLMACRX V2.17

-       This version has following enhancements:

o    Juergen Eberle did again a BIG JOB:

·         Redesign of some routines and allowing creating own line commands outside YCLMACRX! If you want to include/enhance YCLMAC you have to do the following:

·         Extend YCLMACT with the name of your new line command

·         Run the Rexx to create the line command table YCLMACTB

·         Copy the table to a ISPTLIB dataset

·         Create a Rexx Y$xxx

·         Where xxx is the name of your line command

·         Describe your line command in the user help – Rexx YCLMAHLU

·         REMARK: THIS FUNCTION WILL NOT BE RUNNING IF YOUR SYSEXEC/SYSPROC CONTAINS MORE THAN 16 DATASETS – BECAUSE OF AN IBM / ISPF RESTRICTION!

·         Starting with this release you have also to "distribute" the Rexx:

·         GETDSN

·         GETLMSG

·         Y$REV

·         To support the REV line command (need REVIEW to be separately installed! Used to display VSAM Datasets. See http://www.prycroft6.com.au/REVIEW/index.html)

·         Y$CL

·         Enhanced line compare – see below

·         YCLMAHLU

·         User Help (this Rexx was missing during mailing!)

o    Robert AH Prins has delivered an enhanced CL (Compare Line) command. Allow to compare not adjacent lines!

·         User Labels .EF and .EL to define the lines to be compared

o    Some "minor enhancements"

o    Many thanks also to Bruce Koss from Wells Fargo!!! He presented YCLMAC at the SHARE in Atlanta 2016! A great presentation – many thanks to him!

1. September 2014

-       New Version of YCLMACRX V2.15

o    Following enhancements are included:

·         Support for FI/FL/FA – FI:Find First / FL:Find Last / FA:Find All. Based on the current cursor position! Based on a coding from Hans-Peter Bodden from IVV – Many Thanks!

·         Remark: these line commands (as many others – like IBM TS:Text Split) would be good candidate for PFK usage! Remember that ISPF recognize PFK line commands due to the usage of a “:” prefix:

·         PFKx = :FA
Place the cursor on the word you want to find and press PFKx! You will love it!

·         Since many dataset oriented line commands (from JCL) will currently let “the current display disappear”… new line commands have been created to support the same features but creating a new split screen:

·         EZ – will, like “E”, edit the selected dataset but in a new split screen (if possible! Review your current maximum split screen settings)

·         VZ – will, like “V”, view the selected dataset but in a new split screen

·         DZ[#] – will, like “DX”, create a dataset list for the selected dataset but in a new split screen. Small difference against DX

·         DZ without # will create a DSLIST of the complete dataset (DX will default to the first qualifiert)

4th of June 2011:

-       BMC Presentation:

o    I’m very proud and happy that BMC has in 2011 again invited me to present at their events. I had the chance to be at the following events with these presentations:

·         Paris – 24th May 2011 – BMC MainView Event

·         How to monitor the z196

·         Abstract: since the introduction of the z10 IBM has delivered a tool to measure the CPU performance on a hardware basis. This tool, HIS – Hardware Instrumentation Services, collects hardware events and stores the data in SMF and Unix files.

·         All you wanted to know about the System Logger and SMF

·         Abstract: using System Logger for SMF processing will enhance the reliability and improve the throughput. A migration is since z/OS 1.9 possible and Yves Colliard has already migrated some DP centers, he will describe the functionality, the advantages and the possible pitfalls

·         Antwerp – 1st June 2011 – BMC Benelux Mainframe Forum 2011

·         How to monitor the z196

·         Abstract: see above

·         The latest ISPF Tips & Tricks

·         Abstract: compatibility is a wonderful feature of z/OS, we are able to use ISPF like we did years ago! But what about new features and function? Many new functions have been implemented over the years within ISPF. The newest and also the “mostly unknown but important” ISPF functions will be discussed. You will be surprised about some of the additions.

If you are interested in any of these presentation please feel free to send me a mail – I will forward you a copy – Please send me a copy of following presentation

-       z/OSMF (Management Facility) Redbook:

o    IBM had published a Redbook about z/OSMF – please review it before starting the installation (which is not really a “pleasure”…)

·         z/OS Management Facility

-       SDSF und Filter:

o    I also enhanced my small Rexx able to save/restore SDSF Filters – very useful if you are working with different Filters. Now you can also use a List option. Please try this Rexx. I would be very happy to get feedback on this!

-       General change:

o    As I’m currently also working outside the “German-language” area, I decide to change (from now on – “older” information will not be currently translated!) the language of my homepage to English. Please feel free to ask if you don’t understand my English or my German (or both ;-)

8. April 2011:

-       YCSLOG Version 2.0 ist verfügbar:

o    umfangreiche, jedoch leichte ISPF Applikation (inkl.

o    seit Version 2.0 sind u.a. zusätzlich folgende Funktionen verfügbar:

SMF Logstream Mode: Optimizing the New Paradigm

(Woah!)
- EAV unterstützt auch Extended Format Sequentiel Datasets (new Parameter)

Ab November dieses Jahr steht mein „z/OS Enhancements 1.11“ Kurs zur Verfügung
